§ 3.06. Signs

  • Only the following signs are permitted, subject to the following regulations:

    A. Name plates not exceeding one (1) square foot in area, containing the name of the occupant of the premises.

    B. One (1) unlighted sign not exceeding thirty-two (32) square feet in area for identification of premises, or advertising products produced on the premises.

    C. Farmstands, defined herein shall be allowed one unlighted sign not to exceed thirty-two (32) square feet in surface area for purposes of identifying the owner of the farmstand and advertising only the farm produce sold at the farmstand. This one (1) sign shall be located within three hundred (300) feet of the farmstand.

    D. Advertising signs (on-premises) are permitted on property with at least two hundred (200) feet of frontage along a county road.

    • One advertising sign per business is permitted per zoning lot for each two hundred (200) feet of street frontage.

    • The advertising sign must be at least two hundred (200) feet from any other sign and may not be located in the clear sight triangle of an intersection.

    • The advertising sign shall be set back twenty-five (25) feet from any property line adjacent to a county road; however, if a survey is provided, the sign may be located on the property line. There is no setback requirement from the side or rear property lines.

    • The top of the advertising sign may be no higher than ten (10) feet above the adjacent road bed.

    • The smallest dimension of the sign may be no less than three (3) feet and the gross surface area of the sign may be no larger than fifty (50) square feet.

    • Only external illumination is permitted; internal, flashing, intermittent, revolving or other moving lights are not permitted.
